Cool your Porsche this summer: 996 Turbo ultimate cooling package [CSF Radiators]

Preparing to put your Porsche into storage this winter? Don’t overlook this common issue that can lead to catastrphic failure, even accidents if not resolved!

The Problem: Old, Failing Stock Radiators in the Porsche 996 Turbo

As summer approached, Ryan noticed that his Porsche 996 Turbo's coolant level was mysteriously lowering, and with a wet patch under the front of the car after every drive, it was clear the original radiators had come to the end of their life These radiators have a particularly hard life, positioned inside the front bumper, with ducts to channel air for cooling, also gather road debris like leaves, bugs and road grime.

The problem with the original radiators is that they use plastic end tanks that are crimped onto the aluminum core, with a rubber gasket between the two. Over time, corrosion in the aluminum causes it to swell, breaking the seal and resulting in leaks. As well as leaking, Ryan’s radiators performance was degraded due to the fins that exchange the coolant hear with the cambient air no longer being present in places. With the track season ahead, these failing radiators would have posed a serious risk to both performance and engine reliability. Continuing to drive, let alone pushing the car to the track, was no longer a safe option.

The Solution: CSF All-Aluminium Radiator Upgrade

To solve this problem and prepare his Porsche 996 Turbo for maximum enjoyment, Ryan opted to replace the stock radiators with CSF All-Aluminium Radiators. Unlike the factory radiators, the CSF radiators feature an all-aluminum construction with TIG welded aluminum end tanks, eliminating the problemematic factory construction. Each unit is also pressure tested at the factory, guaranteeing that they can handle the demands of high-performance driving.

In addition to better construction, the CSF radiators feature core made using"B-tubes" vs. the factory ‘O-tubes’. Thbe B-tube core is stronger than an O-tube, allowing less material to be used to acheive the same strength, improving heat exchange and minmising the weight. This B-tube core also allows for dual laminar flow, improving performance again, with up to a 15% efficiencty improvement vs. stock.

Moreover, CSF’s radiators are designed as direct OE replacements, meaning they fit perfectly without the need for any modifications. The CSF radiators have CNC machined fittings for the factory quick-connect hoses and mounting points.

With the CSF All-Aluminium Radiators installed, Ryan now has peace of mind that his Porsche 996 Turbo will no longer suffer from the issue the factory radiator design delivers, and is equipped with a cooling system that can handle summer driving and track days with ease.
