Introduction
Do you want to dramatically improve power, torque, intake, and exhaust sound on your GPF-equipped MK7.5 Golf R?
The MK7 Golf R platform, including the 8V S3 and Leon Cupra 5F, is a legendary car in the tuning world. With colossal performance gains available from simple bolt-ons and software upgrades, fantastic handling, and great spec as standard. Some changes were made around 2017, which means some of these later cars have what is called a ‘Gasoline Particulate Filter', or GPF, and sometimes referred to as a PPF, OPF too. This part helps to reduce particulate emissions, but mutes the exhaust system and limits the power and torque gains from Stage 1 tuning. You can remove the GPF, but your vehicle will no longer be road-legal, which is a big issue if you would like to use your car on the road.
There is a solution: our Stage 1 package improves power and torque and releases hidden turbo sounds and the hidden exhaust note, whilst improving the engine bay and rear-end aesthetic, all whilst keeping your car road-legal.
RacingLine 5 Piece Intake Package
The factory intake is incredibly restrictive on the MK7 Golf R. Not only does it restrict power, but it also hides a lot of the glorious intake and turbo sounds you want to hear from a performance car. To release the power, torque, and sound, we install:
RacingLine R600 Intake: this kit replaces the whole factory airbox and duct assembly, the much larger intake airbox, the smoother intake path, and the air duct that uses the whole of the front grill. All of these elements allow for improved power, torque, and sound on the stock car and even larger gains when combined with the ECU software.
RacingLine Turbo Inlet Hose: This hose replaces the factory corrugated plastic hose. The factory hose being corrugated disturbs the airflow, slowing it down, and isn't aesthetically pleasing. The RacingLine R600 Turbo Inlet Hose is internally smooth, eliminating restriction, and is more aesthetically pleasing, and it is available in Black, Red, Blue, and Grey to further customise your engine bay.
RacingLine Turbo 90 Inlet replaces the hugely restrictive plastic turbo inlet. The factory turbo inlet tapers down to an outlet that is smaller than the turbo inlet, reducing performance. The RacingLine Turbo 90 Inlet has an outlet that matches the factory turbo inlet, maximising performance.

RacingLine Turbo Muffler Delete eliminates the last restriction on the intake. This part fits on the turbo outlet; it replaces the factory turbo muffler, which works as a silencer for the turbo and stifles flow. The RacingLine Turbo Muffler Delete replaces this part with an unsilenced part with minimal restriction.

RacingLine Coolant Underhoses replace the factory coolant hose that usually hangs across the factory airbox. This hose ruins the engine bay aesthetic, and the RacingLine Coolant Underhoses replaces this hose, routing it under the intake, out of sight.

Exhaust
The Milltek exhaust system fitted to this MK7 Golf R is the GPF back, this replaces the exhaust quite literally from the GPF back. This means it leaves the GPF and catalyst in place, remaining road compliant. The Milltek system has a larger internal bore with a free flowing back box and a choice of tips that fill out the rear diffuser, improving the rear-end aesthetic as well as sound.

ECU & TCU software
To bring all of these upgrades together, the RacingLine OEM+ ECU & TCU tune is installed. The ECU optimises fuelling, ignition, boost, and many other maps inside the ECU to dramatically improve performance. The TCU software optimises the gearbox for use with this improved engine output, optimising torque limits, shift points, clamping pressure, and many other maps for improved gearbox performance with the ECU software.
Peak output was lifted on this car from 318 bhp & 438 Nm to 379 bhp & 541 Nm, an improvement of 61 bhp and 103 Nm at peak.
