Frequently asked questions

Which B3 springs can I fit (e.g. standard or sports suspension)?

B3 springs are made exactly to OE specification so the car's original handling is kept. Always choose by vehicle, because damper, spring and top mount are tuned to work together.

Can I use the reinforced B3 springs on my car?

Only if the car has the matching equipment. Fitting them to the wrong car can change ride height and how the suspension works.

Why does the suspension need enough spring preload?

Preload keeps the spring firmly seated in every situation, even at full extension. Axial play is checked here – an important point, also for roadworthiness inspections.

How are Bilstein's OE replacement parts named?

B1 = OE replacement service parts (top mount, bump stop, protective tube) and, for air suspension, the compressor. B3 = OE replacement springs (coil spring or air spring). B4 = OE replacement shock absorbers and air suspension modules.

My shock absorbers are worn. Should I replace the springs too?
