At the beginning of the development process of this product we spent a lot of time thinking about the preferred way to build a Y-pipe; here is the result of our conclusions and development process.
Significant advantages of do88's Y-pipe compared to the OEM pipe:
- Much larger inner diameter for improved airflow — do88 62% higher!
- 70mm mandrel-bent aluminium pipes

- Comes with high-quality silicone hoses and accessories for installation
Our pipe has both a very good flow rate and a low weight, achieved by combining mandrel-bent lightweight pipes with a high-quality 3D freeform-designed cast joint between them. Onto the cast part we then welded CNC-machined connections for BOV and breather hoses. This construction adds a lot of performance but only a small amount of extra weight: do88 Performance Y-pipe 1.52 kg (3.35 lb) vs OEM plastic pipe 1.38 kg (3.04 lb), and a competitor's cast performance pipe 2.76 kg (6.08 lb).
The pipes are finished in a high-quality powder coat that makes them look as good as they perform. The kit includes 2 high-quality custom-designed silicone hoses, available to suit either the OEM intercoolers or the do88 performance intercoolers.
When it comes to airflow performance, the do88 Y-pipe totally outperforms the OEM Y-pipe by 62% increased flow at the same pressure drop. In final testing together with our intercoolers on a Stage 1 tuned 997.2 Turbo PDK, from five back-to-back full-throttle accelerations we cut the 50–250 km/h (31–155 mph) acceleration time by 3 seconds.
